Useful information

Stand up paddle, also know as SUP, is a water gliding sport where the practitioner stands on a board longer than a traditional surfboard, propelling themselves with a paddle. For a bit of history, stand up paddle falls between the canoe and modern surfing, formerly practiced by Polynesian kings on immense boards carved from tree trunks. The goal was to explore and engage in trade in the lagoons of their archipelago. It was taken up again in the 1940s-50s by the famous Hawaiian swimming champion Duke Kahanamoku and his group of friends, the first Beach Boys.

This sport can also be practiced in prone and kneeling positions.
